Home › Retreats › 2-Day Somatic Couples Intensive: Nervous-System Repair Retreat in Da Nang, Vietnam
Vietnam · 2 days · From EUR 6578
Day one starts at 9:30 am. You'll move through a couple session, then somatic immersion work — guided attunement, breath-anchored practice, body-level work — with movement and meditation built in to settle the nervous system before going deeper. There's a break for lunch in town around midday, then the afternoon block picks up the same threads. The second day mirrors the first but builds toward the close: a final sacred rite, described in the source as a sweetness-infused, heart-anchored ceremony to close old cycles and mend what hurts.
What makes this different from a standard couples retreat is the method. Joanna is explicit that this is not talk therapy. Most of the work is nonverbal — breath, body, sensation, movement — on the basis that some wounds can't be talked through and have to be released physically. She draws on Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Advanced EMDR, attachment theory, Shamanic practice and Tibetan Buddhist retreat training, and she's developed her own framework called The Body Safe First Method. Her stated focus is partnership intimacy, inner-union, and root-clearing trauma work in the earliest conditioning.
The location is a coastal villa in downtown Da Nang, chosen for being central — beaches, cafés, tea houses and cultural landmarks are all walkable or a short ride away. The city is on Vietnam's central coast, with mountain views inland and the South China Sea out front. Da Nang International Airport is a short transfer, and Joanna collects you on arrival and drops you back at the end.
The two-day format is deliberate. It's short enough to fit into a normal week but structured as what the source calls a "sacred descent and sacred rising" — a slow unwinding on day one and a rebuilding on day two. You leave with a written map Joanna calls a Sacred Union Blueprint: a plan for sustaining the repair after you fly home. Pre- and post-retreat support is included, so the work doesn't stop when the two days end.
Because this is an intimate, trauma-focused programme, it suits couples in active difficulty — post-affair, post-rupture, or stuck in a repeating cycle neither partner can name. It's not a holiday with yoga bolted on, and Joanna runs several other intensives in Da Nang with different framings (after an affair, empty-nest, make-or-break crisis) so you can pick the one that matches your situation.
