Indonesia · 20 days · From EUR 2600
The core of the course is Yin yoga. You'll learn the main yin poses, how long to hold them, how to prop them with bolsters and blocks, and what each shape is doing to connective tissue, fascia and joints. Alexandra walks through the anatomy and the meridian lines behind the poses, drawing on her medical and acupuncture training. You'll also cover the rest of a standard 200-hour syllabus: asana for vinyasa and hatha, pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, sequencing, cueing, and the business side of teaching.
The sound healing module teaches you to work with Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls and other instruments — how to strike them, how to run a sound bath, and how to pace a session for a room of people. You'll practice on each other, then run a full sound bath as your assessment. The cacao ceremony training covers the history and cultural roots of ceremonial cacao, how to prepare and serve it, and how to hold the space around it. At the end you'll co-lead a cacao and sound ceremony for the group.
A typical day starts around 7:00 with pranayama or meditation, then a two-hour asana or yin practice. After breakfast there's theory — anatomy, philosophy or sequencing — followed by lunch and a break. Afternoons are for teaching labs, where you take turns instructing a small group and get feedback from Alexandra and the other students. Some evenings are for sound practice or ceremony. The rest day midweek is free for exploring Ubud, getting a massage, or just sleeping.
The 40 hours of online study is done before you arrive. It's self-paced, so you can spread it over weeks or binge it in a few days. It covers foundational theory — history, philosophy, basic anatomy, Sanskrit terminology — so the on-site days aren't spent on things you could read at home. You'll need to complete it to get your certificate.
What sets this apart from other 200-hour courses is the combination: full Yoga Alliance certification plus sound healing plus cacao facilitation in one 20-day block. You leave able to teach a standard yoga class, run a sound bath, and hold a cacao ceremony — three separate offerings most trainings only cover one of. The Yin Yoga Therapy™ framework from Alexandra also gives the yin portion a therapeutic edge; you're not just learning poses, you're learning how to work with people who have injuries, stiffness or stress-related conditions.
