200-Hour Ashtanga & Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in Mysore, India

200-Hour Ashtanga & Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in Mysore, India

India · 29 days · From USD 732

The training runs Monday to Friday with a full schedule: yogic kriyas from 7:30am, then asana practice, pranayama, meditation, anatomy and philosophy classes, and teaching practicums. Saturdays follow a different rhythm—detox practices in the morning, then longer sessions on lesson planning and feedback. Sundays are free to rest or explore Mysore.

You'll cover the history and technique of Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha, and other styles, plus prenatal and kids yoga, acro yoga, and different schools of meditation. The curriculum includes pranayama, kriyas, bandhas, mudras, and yoga nidra. Teaching practice is central: you'll observe live classes, assist the main teacher, and teach your own sessions with expert feedback. You'll also study anatomy and physiology from both medical and yogic perspectives, and dive into Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and other yogic texts.

What sets this training apart is the location and the depth of tradition. Mysore is the home of Ashtanga yoga, and Yogadarshanam is a proper Indian yoga school, not a resort. The school's founder, Yogacharya Santhosh Kumar, brings decades of training and a focus on classical, unmodified yogic science. You're not just getting a certificate; you're learning how to teach yoga in a way that honours the tradition. The group is capped at 25, so you get personal attention.

The course includes seva (karma) yoga, where students help run the school—office work, organising programmes—to understand the administrative side of teaching. There are also optional outdoor yoga sessions at holy places, the lake, and the lawn, plus cultural evenings with bhajans, chanting, and drama. By the end, you'll have not only the skills to teach but a genuine feel for how yoga is lived in India.
