Rishikesh · 25 days · From USD 430
The 200-hour teacher training at Kaivalyam is designed to give you both the practical skills to lead a class and the deeper understanding of yoga that makes a great teacher. You'll cover asana, pranayama, bandhas, mudras, meditation, mantra, shatkarma, anatomy, philosophy, alignment and teaching methodology. The program is registered with Yoga Alliance USA, so your certificate is internationally recognized.
The schedule is full-on. You'll be up at 6am for pranayama and meditation, followed by a two-hour asana practice that rotates between Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa styles. Mornings then move into alignment, breaking down the poses with precision, and teaching methodology – learning how to sequence a class, use your voice, and hold space for students. Afternoons bring another asana session that is more alignment-based and evening classes in anatomy and philosophy.
What sets Kaivalyam apart is its emphasis on the traditional, spiritual side of yoga that often gets missed in modern teacher trainings. You'll practice mantra chanting, learn about the chakras and the subtle body, and explore different meditation styles including the Himalayan tradition. The teaching is grounded in the classical texts as well as modern anatomical knowledge, so you get a 360-degree feel for yoga rather than just a workout certification.
The school is lead by Rajesh Ji, who has over 10 years of teaching experience and is currently pursuing his PhD in Yoga from Uttarakhand Sanskrit University. He's joined by Naveen, who brings five years of expertise in Hatha and Vinyasa flow teaching, and Yogi, who grew up in a family of yoga practitioners and holds an MSc in Yoga from Gurukul Kangri University. Together they create a learning environment that is rigorous, supportive, and genuinely inspiring.
