India · 20 days · From EUR 2655
The course is built around two traditions that pair naturally. Yin Yoga works on connective tissue and meridians, holding postures for minutes at a time. Ayurveda looks at constitution, digestion, daily rhythm and routine. Teaching both means you graduate able to run a class and also advise someone on what to eat and when to sleep — which is what most people walking into a yoga studio actually want help with.
A typical day starts early with Yin practice before breakfast, then theory sessions through the morning: anatomy, meridian lines, how fascia responds to long holds. Afternoons move into Ayurveda — the doshas, food combining, morning and evening routines, and how to build a simple daily practice for someone who isn't a yogi. Evenings are quieter, often philosophy or the subtle body, or restorative practice. Case studies and hands-on therapeutic work run through the middle weeks so you're practising on real bodies, not just memorising.
The trauma-aware teaching element is worth flagging. It covers how to hold space for students with injuries, anxiety or a history of trauma — how to offer adjustments, how to use language that doesn't pressure anyone, when to back off. This is not on every 200-hour syllabus.
Alexandra Denkinger leads the training. She's a medical doctor (acupuncture) based in Sri Lanka and the founder of Yin Yoga Therapy™, and she's run similar 100-hour and 200-hour trainings in Bali. Her background is clinical, which shows in how the anatomy and therapeutic modules are taught — practical, no mysticism, aimed at what you'd do in a real class or one-to-one session.
The lead-in is Mandrem Beach itself. Between sessions you can walk straight onto the sand, swim, or eat at the beach shacks. It's a working village, not a resort, so it's cheap to eat well and quiet enough that you can study. Most people come alone and leave with a group they keep in touch with.
