Home › Retreats › 200-Hour Yin Yoga & Breathwork Teacher Training on the Sri Lankan Coast
Sri Lanka · 20 days · From USD 2299
The training is run by Raga Akal Jiwa, a team that draws on Taoist and Zen philosophy rather than rigid alignment. The core idea is that the breath bridges body and mind, and that yin yoga is a therapeutic practice, not just a set of poses. You'll study the 12 meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine, how to sequence intelligently, and how to work with fascia and the nervous system.
A distinctive feature is the integration of breathwork training throughout. You'll learn the physiology of breathing—biomechanics, psychophysiology, and biochemistry—alongside practical techniques like pranayama, breath retention, and conscious overdrive methods. The program covers how to use breathwork for stress, anxiety, and trauma support, and how to structure safe sessions for others.
The teachers are Wendy, a Yin Yoga Therapy™ graduate with additional training in sound therapy and trauma-sensitive approaches, and Bahanur, a certified Oxygen Advantage® instructor and Trauma Release Breathwork Coach. Both bring different strengths, and students consistently praise their dedication and depth of knowledge.
The setting is KSL Resort in Kalpitiya, a coastal area known for its unspoiled beaches and kite surfing. The resort has open-air yoga shalas, a spa, a gym, and a restaurant that serves vegan meals. The location is remote enough to feel like a retreat, but active enough that weekends offer whale watching, safaris in Wilpattu National Park, and SUP rentals.
