200-Hour Yoga Certification in the Himalayan Foothills

200-Hour Yoga Certification in the Himalayan Foothills

India · 21 days · From USD 1500

The 200-hour training is a full-time immersion. The curriculum covers Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga/Vinyasa, including the Ashtanga Primary Series, sequencing Vinyasa flows, and teaching Hatha classes with proper alignment and adjustments. You'll also have Yin Yoga sessions, posture clinics, and themed workshops on hip opening, inversions, and arm balances.

Teaching practice begins on day five, and you'll build up to leading 45-90 minute classes. You'll get feedback from peers and teachers on adjustments, voice projection, class management, and teaching styles. The course also covers planning classes, demonstrating, observing, assisting, and correcting, plus injury management, safety, class presence, and the business side of yoga.

Dharamshala is set in the Himalayan foothills with pine forests and mountain views. The school is in the Bhagasu Nag neighborhood, a short walk from the ancient Bhagsu Nag temple and waterfall. The area is peaceful but lively, with cafes, markets, and cultural spots. The Triund trek trailhead is nearby if you want a one-day mountain hike on your day off.

The school is run by Shree Hari Yoga, founded by Hari, who grew up near Rishikesh and spent years as a wandering ascetic before starting the school in 2013. He teaches a Nath lineage tradition of Hatha Yoga, passed down through teachers since the 9th century. The teaching team also includes experienced instructors like Gonul, Abin, Monika, and Sharookh, each bringing their own specialization.

By the end of the course, you'll be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 500 (though this is a 200-hour course, the description suggests it leads to that level). You'll leave with the confidence to teach Hatha and Yin yoga, with skills in modifications, advanced postures, and using props.
