200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in the Himalayan Foothills of Nepal

200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in the Himalayan Foothills of Nepal

Nepal · 21 days · From USD 1207

The 200-hour yoga teacher training at Annapurna Eco Village is a full-immersion course for anyone who wants to teach, but also for yogis who simply want a deeper, more structured understanding of the practice. The curriculum is rooted in classical Hatha yoga and covers far more than asana: you'll study Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, anatomy and physiology, yoga biomechanics, Ayurveda, teaching methodology, and professional development. You'll leave with the tools to sequence and lead a class, but also with a much stronger personal practice.

A typical day starts at 7:00 with meditation or pranayama, followed by a 90-minute Hatha yoga class. After breakfast, the morning is spent on philosophy, history, or Ayurveda, with a tea break and then alignment and adjustment practice. Lunch is followed by anatomy, ethics, or professional development, and then a second Hatha yoga class in the late afternoon. The day ends with meditation, mantra, or kirtan before dinner. It sounds intense, and it is, but the schedule includes time for digestion and rest between sessions, and one full free day each week.

The setting is a big part of the experience. Astam is a working village where people farm organic vegetables and live simply. There are no distractions of the city—just hills, terraced fields, and the Himalayas on the horizon. The yoga hall is newly built, large, and inspiring, and the accommodation is clean and comfortable. You'll be studying with teachers who have been at this for decades: Madan grew up around yoga philosophy, studied with a guru in India as a teenager, and has been teaching and running retreats across Nepal and India since completing his 500-hour training. Linda and Shanki add their own perspectives, and together they create a well-rounded faculty.

This isn't a luxury retreat—it's a training course, and the focus is on learning and practice. But the food is excellent, the people are warm, and the location is genuinely special. If you're ready to spend three weeks in the mountains and come out a confident teacher, this is a solid choice.
