British Columbia · 15 days · From USD 870
Set in the pristine Kootenay Boundary region of British Columbia, this training is based at a wilderness camp that feels a world away from daily distractions. Mornings might start with the sound of robins, and your yoga shala is simply a deck under the trees, with a surface that's as natural as it gets. The program is designed to be immersive without being overwhelming, blending daily asana practice, pranayama, and meditation with seminars on anatomy, philosophy, and the business of teaching yoga.
Your lead teacher is Sarah Martinuik, an experienced instructor who has taught internationally and is known for her thorough, engaging style. She balances time on the mat with thought-provoking discussions, making the learning both practical and deep. The group is kept small, between 1 and 18 participants, so you'll get plenty of personal attention and form close bonds with your fellow trainees.
Beyond the core curriculum, the training includes a range of creative and nature-based activities to round out the experience. You'll have the chance to make mala beads, join a cacao ceremony, go bird watching, and take guided nature walks. Evenings might involve kirtan or a movie night by the campfire. It's a holistic approach that ensures you leave not just with a certification, but with a richer understanding of yoga as a way of life.
The location is a highlight in itself. You're surrounded by mountains, creeks, and old-growth forest, with hiking, horse riding, and rock climbing all nearby. But you're also off-grid, so expect a simpler way of living—no electrical outlets in the tents, and a wood stove for heat in the cabins. It's a chance to truly unplug and focus entirely on your practice and your training.
