Home › Retreats › 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training on Brazil's Atlantic Coast
Brazil · 24 days · From USD 4072
The training runs on a consistent daily rhythm. Mornings start at 7am with a 90-minute yoga practice, followed by half an hour of journaling and reflection before a communal breakfast overlooking the beach. From 10am there's a brief sharing circle, then a three-hour asana clinic where you break down poses, learn hands-on adjustments, and practise teaching each other. Afternoons bring a long lunch break — enough time to rest, swim, or walk into town — before a three-hour theory block covering anatomy, philosophy, sequencing, or the business side of teaching. Each day closes with 45 minutes of yin yoga paired with myofascial release.
The curriculum goes beyond the standard 200-hour requirements. You'll study what they call 'cosmic physiology' alongside holistic anatomy, learn intelligent sequencing, and cover Ayurvedic lifestyle principles. Specialty modules include therapeutic yoga, prenatal and postnatal modifications, restorative yoga, and even aerial yoga sessions. There's also a practical component on building a yoga business and marketing yourself on social media — useful if you plan to teach independently after certification.
The location itself shapes the experience. Itacaré sits at the edge of the Atlantic rainforest, surrounded by jungle, rivers, and a string of beaches accessible only by trail. One review described hiking through the forest to reach hidden coves as a highlight. The surf break at nearby Engenhoca Beach suits beginners and intermediates, and your half-day lesson is included. The SUP yoga class happens at sunset, out on the water.
The teaching team brings varied backgrounds. Bella, who co-owns the retreat centre and has been teaching in Itacaré since 2015, leads the overall programme. Luiza runs the daily asana clinic with a focus on alignment and adjustments. Lygia teaches Hatha and Vinyasa with an emphasis on chakra work and astrology. Jordan, originally from Chicago and now based in Brazil, handles philosophy and mindset coaching, drawing on his training in NLP and Ayurveda. Having multiple instructors means you're exposed to different teaching styles and areas of expertise.
By the end of the 24 days, you'll have a Yoga Alliance-recognised 200-hour certification. But the training is also pitched at people who aren't necessarily planning to teach professionally — if you're looking to deepen your own practice and understand yoga beyond the physical postures, this is designed to work for that too. The group size of 10 or fewer means you get individual attention and build real relationships with the other trainees.
