Indonesia · 21 days
Days start early on Bali's north coast. Expect a morning asana practice before breakfast, then blocks of philosophy, anatomy and teaching methodology through the middle of the day. Afternoons are usually practical — practising cueing, adjusting, and sequencing on each other under supervision. Evening sessions tend to be quieter: meditation, restorative work, or group discussion linked to whichever cycle the training is in that week.
What sets this course apart from a standard 200-hour is the four-cycle structure. Rather than repeating the same weekly timetable three times, the training moves through distinct phases. Week one is largely about stripping back habits you've built up in your practice. The second week, tied to the direction of the South, is about clarity and seeing your patterns. The third moves into expansion and then into teaching from your own authority. Students often say they can trace exactly where the shift happened.
The shamanic element comes through the Medicine Wheel teachings, woven through the philosophy sessions rather than bolted on as a separate workshop. If you've done other Yoga Alliance courses before, this is the part that reads differently. If you haven't, it's still taught at a level that assumes no prior background in it.
The lead facilitator, Keri, has run this training and others in Guatemala, Portugal, and elsewhere in Bali, and the program is confirmed with the same structure across locations. She's based in Guatemala and has been running teacher trainings for several years. The team she works with on the ground is confirmed before each course starts, so you'll know who's teaching you before you arrive.
Tejakula itself is low-key. There are no beach clubs, and the nearest significant tourist development is a fair drive away. That's a large part of why the course is run there: fewer distractions, more focus. The trade-off is that this isn't a retreat where you'll spend afternoons exploring. It's a training, and it's run like one.
