21-Day 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training on Portugal's Atlantic Coast

21-Day 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training on Portugal's Atlantic Coast

Portugal · 21 days · From EUR 3400

The training runs for 21 days and follows the standard 200-hour Yoga Alliance curriculum: techniques and practice (asana, pranayama, meditation), teaching methodology, anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy and ethics, and practicum hours. Mornings are the heaviest — meditation and pranayama before sunrise, then a 90-minute asana class, then breakfast. After that come the theory blocks: how to sequence a class, how to modify postures for different bodies, how to use props, and how to cue a room without talking over the group. Afternoons are for anatomy, philosophy (the Yoga Sutras, the yamas and niyamas, basic Sanskrit), and practice teaching. You'll teach short sequences to the group most days and get feedback, and towards the end of the three weeks you'll teach a full 60-minute class on your own.

What makes this one different from a shorter training is simply the amount of time on the mat. Three weeks means you build a daily practice that holds up, rather than cramming the syllabus into a week and forgetting half of it. It also means the group gets to know each other properly — most people who do this format end up teaching their practicum to people they trust, which takes the edge off the first few attempts at standing in front of a room.

Keri has run this same 200-hour training at multiple locations — Bali, Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, and now Peniche — and teaches the whole course herself rather than handing off blocks to different teachers. She's based in Guatemala and has four other retreats listed, all yoga teacher trainings, so this is her main line of work rather than a sideline.

Peniche itself is a small coastal town about an hour north of Lisbon, known for consistent surf, a fishing harbour, and the Berlenga islands offshore. It's not a resort town — it's quiet, a bit windswept, and cheap by Portuguese coastal standards. The property, Quinta Marugo, sits outside the centre, which gives you space for outdoor practice and early morning meditation without traffic noise. Between sessions you can walk to the cliffs, swim, or take a taxi into town for a coffee.

The room options are named 'People Ocean' at three price points — shared triple, shared double, and private. Meals are prepared for the group and dietary requirements are handled if you tell the organisers in advance. Exact arrival and departure dates, and what's included in each package, are confirmed directly with Keri when you book.
