Home › Retreats › 21-Day Advanced Yoga Teacher Training & Wellness Immersion in the Algarve, Portugal
Portugal · 21 days · From USD 3299
The training is led by Dr. Elizabeth Lindh, who has been teaching yoga for over 30 years and has certified more than 1,200 students from nearly 50 countries. Liz trained in the vinyasa lineage of Sri Krishnamacharya through his son T.K.V. Desikachar and Shiva Rea, and also practices classical tantra in the Nath tradition. Her approach blends classical yoga philosophy with current research in exercise science, physical therapy, and neuroscience — the curriculum is grounded in an awareness-based, somatic method that emphasizes injury prevention and sustainable strength.
The daily schedule is consistent: mornings start with meditation, breathwork, and chanting, followed by a 90-minute vinyasa practice. After breakfast there's a posture clinic and anatomy workshop, then teaching methodology and practicum. Afternoons cover Ayurveda, hands-on assists, or special topics, and evenings finish with embodied movement and a philosophy discussion. No two days are identical, but the structure gives you a rhythm that carries you through the three weeks.
A few things set this training apart. The curriculum is unusually broad — it includes ayurveda, chakras and energy psychology, yoga for special populations (including pregnancy and trauma-informed teaching), and a 60-minute private teaching practicum. You also get a 500+ page illustrated manual written by Liz, which serves as a lasting reference. The program includes a cacao ceremony and mala-making ritual, and there are three full days off for exploring the Algarve.
The villa is called Monte Sobradhino, and it sits on a 12,000 sqm gated estate with landscaped gardens, an outdoor saltwater infinity pool, and multiple yoga decks. The training takes place in the main villa, with a second property, Casa Tranquila, located 1.5 km away for additional accommodation. The setting is high in the hills near Loulé, close enough to beaches and authentic Portuguese towns for day trips but private enough for deep focus.
