Guatemala · 21 days · From USD 3069
This isn't just a certification course; it's a full 21-day immersion into a way of living. The schedule is intense in a good way—mornings begin before sunrise with meditation and asana on a deck overlooking the lake, and the afternoon is spent learning how to teach: practicing your cueing, studying alignment, and teaching a sequence to your peers. The training is structured around four cycles of four days, each dedicated to one of the four elements, with a rest day in between. The element theme carries through the lessons, ceremonies and inner work, so each cycle feels like a coherent chapter rather than a blur of poses. You'll move through the core curriculum—yoga history and philosophy, anatomy, alignment, yogic diet, Ayurveda, the Yoga Sutras—and in the second half you'll add Hatha, Restorative and Yin traditions, learn to sequence intelligently, and design your own class. The teaching team matters as much as the curriculum. Darin 'Jai' Lehman, the lead facilitator, brings years of studying with spiritual teachers across traditions; he plays instruments, leads kirtan and incorporates ceremony into the work. Lacey Hickox, E-RYT 500, has studied with Janet Stone and Shiva Rea and spends her time teaching internationally; she brings reiki, sound healing and a grounded, playful energy to the course. The location itself is a big part of the experience. The sanctuary is set on a hillside, so there's a short hike up from the village, but the views of the lake and volcanoes from the top are the reward. Guests consistently mention the sunrise views as a highlight. The rooms are simple and eco-friendly—glamping tents, dorms, a few private cabins—and the walls are thin in the casitas, so it's not the place for luxury, but it is a place to unplug and focus on the practice. The food is vegetarian, mostly vegan, with as much as possible grown on site or sourced locally, and the kitchen can handle gluten-free and other diets on request. Over three weeks the group becomes a community, and you leave not just with a credential but with a refreshed sense of how you want to live.
