24-Day Rishikesh Hatha & Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training and Wellness Immersion

Rishikesh · 24 days · From USD 1120

The 200-hour teacher training at Sanskar Yogashala in Rishikesh is a month-long program covering the full spectrum of classical yoga. Mornings start with an early asana class, usually Hatha or Ashtanga, before breakfast and a first philosophy lecture. Afternoons bring anatomy, teaching methodology, and pranayama, with a second asana session later in the day. The schedule repeats across the month, building in depth as you go — early weeks focus on foundational alignment and the basics of sequencing, later weeks move into practice teaching and more advanced adjustments.

The school is run by a small group of Indian teachers who have been practicing since childhood. Lead instructor Yogi Naveen comes from a Brahmin family and learned from his guru in Rishikesh; he's a regular teacher at the International Yoga Festival and brings a dynamic but warm energy to his classes. Co-founder Yogi Ajay Joshi trained in Ashtanga in Mysore and spent five years teaching therapy yoga in Mumbai before setting up the school. Between them they cover Hatha, Ashtanga, Kundalini, philosophy, and anatomy — and they stay around after class for questions in a way larger schools can't.

Rishikesh itself is part of the experience. The school sits in the Tapovan area, close to the Lakshman Jhula bridge and the river, and the days are punctuated by the sounds of the Ganges and temple bells. The course includes excursions — the evening Ganga Aarti ceremony is a regular fixture, and there are group trips to local temples and viewpoints. Evenings might bring kirtan, a movie night, or a sound healing session.

Unlike a holiday retreat, this is a working month. There's homework, practice teaching, and a final exam, and the schedule runs from early morning until evening most days. That intensity is exactly why the training works — by the fourth week you feel the shift in your own practice, and you've had the repetitions needed to actually learn how to teach. The food follows the traditional sattvic yogic diet, which supports the long days better than you'd expect.

Sanskar Yogashala also runs courses in Goa, Dharamshala, and Thailand, and many students use this Rishikesh training as the foundation for a later 300-hour or Kundalini-specific course. The school keeps groups small — typically between five and ten people — which is right at the sweet spot for making friends without ever feeling crowded.
