25-Day 200-Hour Multi-Style Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh

Rishikesh · 25 days · From USD 854

The training is built around traditional Hatha and Ashtanga asana, but the real spine of the course is the classical side of yoga that often gets skipped. You'll spend real hours on the Yoga Sutras, the eight limbs, pranayama, kriyas, mudras, and yoga nidra — taught by a rotating team of specialists who've trained at Sivananda Ashram, Kaivalyadham, and the University of Patanjali. That breadth is what makes this different from a purely asana-heavy certification.

The lead teacher, Yogi Vishnu Panigrahi, grew up in a Brahmin family in Odisha, guided early by his grandfather's meditation practice. He now runs the ashram and brings a grounded, no-frills approach to teaching. Around him are people like Dr. Hemlata, who blends classical Hatha with therapeutic alignment for students recovering from injury, and Sunil Bisht, who started learning yoga from his father at age four and has taught for 15 years.

The location does a lot of the work. The ashram sits on the calm side of the Ganges at Laxman Jhula, close enough to walk to shops and restaurants but far enough from the tourist crush that you can actually focus. Himalayan views frame the practice decks. Accommodation is simple — dormitories through private rooms — and the food is 100% vegetarian, served three times daily.

What you're paying for is the certification. The course follows Yoga Alliance USA guidelines, and on completion you're eligible to register as an RYT-200. That means you can teach internationally. For many students, this is the door into full-time teaching; for others, it's a deep 25-day retreat into the tradition that ends with a genuinely useful qualification.

Weekends break the intensity. There are excursions into the surrounding hills and along the river — hiking, rafting, sightseeing — plus evening kirtans and movie nights. It's a demanding month, but the structure gives you room to absorb what you're learning rather than just cramming poses.
