Rishikesh · 25 days · From USD 603
The Sri Yoga Ashram's 25-day teacher training is built around the combined study of Ashtanga and Hatha yoga, a blend that gives you the best of both worlds. The Ashtanga component follows the classical system popularized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, focusing on strength, flexibility, and mental focus through primary series practice, vinyasa flow, bandhas, and drishti. The Hatha yoga classes focus on balance, awareness, and mindfulness, with detailed attention to alignment, pranayama, mudras, and the philosophy of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. This dual approach ensures you graduate with a well-rounded knowledge of both dynamic and gentle styles.
A typical day begins with Kundalini yoga asana, pranayama, and cleansing rituals (Shatkarma), preparing your body and mind for the day ahead. After a wholesome vegetarian breakfast, you'll dive into philosophy classes taught by Dr. Gaurav Agrawal, who holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and makes ancient concepts accessible and relevant. After lunch, the afternoons are dedicated to anatomy, teaching methodology, and Kundalini meditation. The schedule is intense but rewarding, as you'll spend nearly seven hours a day in classes, six days a week. The ashram also offers beach yoga and meditation sessions by the Ganga, and a chance to meditate in an ancient cave, adding a unique spiritual dimension to your training.
What sets this training apart is the calibre of the teaching team and the small class size. With no more than ten students, you get personal attention and corrections that are impossible in larger programs. The lead teachers are Dr. Gaurav Agrawal (philosophy), Yogi Arpit (asana), Yogi Kalpendra (pranayama and meditation), Yogi Ankur (meditation and cleansing), and Pradeep Kumar (anatomy), each bringing years of experience and a genuine commitment to students' growth. Many students describe the experience as life-changing, not just because of the certification but because of the supportive, family-like environment where they feel cared for and encouraged. The ashram's lush green location, with beautiful birdlife and occasional peacock visits, creates an atmosphere of peace and focus that is ideal for deep study.
