Rishikesh · 25 days · From USD 473
The 200-hour curriculum at Agni Yoga India combines Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa with pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, anatomy, alignment, mudras, bandhas, and teaching methodology. You'll study the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the eight limbs, and the yamas and niyamas, then put that theory into practice in daily asana classes. It's a traditional approach—less about fitness and more about understanding yoga as a complete discipline.
The teaching side is practical from early on. You won't just study how to teach; you'll start doing it. Students practice sequencing, demonstrate postures, give instructions, and teach complete classes, with feedback from experienced teachers. This is what separates this course from a simple asana intensive—you leave having already stood in front of a class. The trainers include Rohit, who has taught in Rishikesh and Vietnam for years, Priyanka who leads Ashtanga, Lavish who specialises in pranayama and philosophy, and other resident teachers who cover meditation and anatomy.
The ashram itself is eco-friendly, surrounded by forest and mountains, with a yoga shala, garden, library, and terrace. Meals are sattvic—vegetarian, local, and prepared fresh each day. Beyond the core curriculum, there are workshops in Acro Yoga, sound healing, mantra chanting, karma yoga, and a trip to watch the Ganga Aarti evening ceremony on the river. A Himalayan sunrise experience is also included, as are group hikes and excursions around Rishikesh. The schedule runs from around 6am to 9pm, with breaks and a lights-out at 10pm to keep you rested.
The location itself is a big part of the experience. Rishikesh is packed with ashrams and yoga schools, but Tapovan is the quieter, forested neighbourhood, with the Ganges nearby and the mountains rising behind it. You're close enough to walk to shops or the river, but far enough to feel removed from the busy town centre.
