Rishikesh · 28 days · From USD 668
This isn't a luxury retreat with spa treatments and infinity pools. It's a working yoga school where you come to study, practice, and grow. The days are full, the food is simple sattvic vegetarian, and the focus is squarely on learning. But that intensity is exactly what makes it transformative. You'll be pushed beyond your perceived limits in asana practice — one 65-year-old guest managed a headstand and handstand with help from the teachers — and you'll absorb a vast amount of knowledge about anatomy, philosophy, and teaching.
The curriculum is a blend of Hatha, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa, with strong emphasis on pranayama, meditation, mantra chanting, and yogic philosophy. You'll also study anatomy and teaching methodology, learning how to adjust students and sequence classes effectively. The school is Yoga Alliance registered, so your 200-hour certificate is internationally recognized, allowing you to teach anywhere in the world.
What sets this training apart is the quality of the instructors. Raghav Khantwal ji, who holds an M.A. in Yogic Sciences, teaches philosophy and anatomy with a depth that comes from years of practice and teaching, including work with India's Ministry of AYUSH. Ajay, who taught for six years in Vietnam, brings a dynamic, international perspective to meditation and mantra. Together with the rest of the team, they create a supportive, encouraging environment that guests consistently describe as life-changing.
The location is integral to the experience. Rishikesh is known as the Yoga Capital of the World, and the school sits close to the banks of the Ganges, surrounded by Himalayan hills. The natural environment enhances the practice in ways a city studio simply can't. You'll feel the peace of the place seeping into your practice, and you might even find yourself understanding why ancient sages chose this spot for their ashrams.
