Home › Retreats › 3-Day Himalayan Yoga & Meditation Escape in Rishikesh
Rishikesh · 3 days · From USD 258
Nirvana Retreat sits in Mohan Chatti, a village in the Tapovan area outside central Rishikesh. It's far enough from the main bazaar that you hear the river and birds rather than traffic and touts. The property has a landscaped garden, a yoga shala with Himalayan views, and rooms that open onto private balconies facing the mountains.
Your first morning starts with pranayama and mantra chanting, then flows into a Hatha yoga class as sunlight comes through the windows. After lunch there's an introduction to yoga philosophy — nothing academic, just context for the practices you're doing. That evening the group drives to Parmarth Niketan for Ganga Aarti, one of India's most photographed rituals. Large fire bowls are offered to the Ganges as priests chant; you watch from the ghats with hundreds of locals and pilgrims.
Day two mixes art therapy, another yoga session, and an afternoon trek to Baal Kumari — an elevated viewpoint where you meditate looking out over the Himalayan range. The day ends around a bonfire with conversation and warmth (it gets cool at night, even in the warmer months). Day three begins before sunrise with herbal tea, then a Yin yoga and pranayama class as the peaks turn golden. After breakfast there's a sound healing session, and the retreat closes with kirtan — live devotional music that tends to stick with people long after they leave.
The teachers are experienced and, according to reviews, genuinely passionate. The lead teacher Abhishek gets mentioned by name by past guests. Haresh, who runs the retreat, has spent ten years living and practising with yogis in the traditional guru-disciple lineage. No prior yoga experience is needed — the sessions are accessible, and nobody expects you to know anything coming in.
What makes this different from a longer retreat is that it's designed for people who can only get away for a long weekend. You still move through ceremony, yogic meals, trekking, and devotional practice, but compressed into 72 hours. It's a proper introduction to Rishikesh's spiritual heritage without the time commitment of a week-long training.
