Home › Retreats › 3-Day Yoga & Meditation Escape in Rural Bali with Cultural Immersion
Indonesia · 3 days · From USD 155
The retreat sits in a quiet village in Tabanan, away from Bali's main tourist strips. You arrive around lunchtime on day one, eat a Balinese meal, get a welcome drink, and then head straight into your included spa treatment — a 60-minute massage. The rest of the afternoon is either a gentle yoga session or a cultural activity, depending on the day's schedule.
Mornings start with a 90-minute Vinyasa or Hatha yoga class, followed by meditation and pranayama. The teachers rotate between three instructors: Adi, who has been practicing traditional Balinese Watukaru yoga for over 30 years and runs yoga therapy sessions; Teddi, a former banker turned full-time yoga teacher known for keeping classes light and funny; and Eli, who trained with both Balinese and Indian gurus and focuses on Vinyasa Flow.
Breakfast comes after the morning session — think tropical fruit, fresh juice, and local dishes served family-style in the garden. Late mornings are for village activities: you might learn to make Balinese Hindu offerings, try your hand at traditional Gamelan music, or take a cooking class using ingredients from the surrounding gardens. Afternoons alternate between yoga sessions and excursions — village walks, waterfall visits for the Melukat purification ritual, or just free time to swim, nap, or explore.
Dinners are served around 7pm, and the atmosphere is casual. Most guests are solo travellers, and meals are designed to get people talking. The food is Indonesian home cooking — vegetable curries with coconut, rice dishes, light salads — with vegetarian and vegan options available.
The bungalows are simple but comfortable: private bathroom, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a porch looking out over the gardens. You can book a shared twin room (two single beds, paired with another guest), a private room for one, or a double room for couples or friends. The property has a pool, a yoga shala, and a restaurant where all meals are served.
On the final morning, you do one more yoga session, have breakfast, and then a last lunch before departure around 1pm. Airport transfers can be arranged — the drive to Ngurah Rai International Airport takes about 90 minutes depending on traffic.
