United Kingdom · 3 days · From USD 625
The retreat is hosted by Joy, a yoga teacher with seven years of practice and devotion to Ashtanga vinyasa flow, who brings a gentle, unhurried approach to her classes. Days begin with a vinyasa flow session that integrates body, breath, and movement, suitable for all levels from beginners to advanced practitioners. Afternoons shift to yin and restorative yoga, focusing on deep relaxation and release. The schedule also includes a one-hour aromatherapy and massage workshop where you'll learn to use hand-blended massage oils and explore acupuncture pressure points, skills you can take home with you.
The venue itself is a key part of the experience. Sharpham House sits on a promontory with spectacular views over the River Dart, set within its own grounds that include herb and tea gardens designed by Percy Cane in the 1960s. There's a secluded outdoor swimming pool in the Walled Garden, and a library for quiet reading. A guided walk is offered each day, taking you through the stunning landscape of the estate, which is part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
What makes this retreat different is its combination of high-quality yoga instruction with a genuinely special heritage location. Sharpham Estate is dedicated to mindfulness meditation and has been listed as a top UK and European meditation retreat by The Times. The food is another highlight: meals are freshly prepared by Sharpham Trust cooks using seasonal, vegetarian, and plant-based ingredients from their on-site organic farm and kitchen garden, including their award-winning cheese and organic produce. It's a very grounded, nature-focused experience where the emphasis is on returning to a simpler, more connected pace.
