Home › Retreats › 30-Day Eco Wellness Escape with Unlimited Yoga in Canggu, Bali
Indonesia · 30 days · From USD 303
Serenity Eco Guesthouse is a pioneer in Bali’s eco-lodging scene. Since opening on 2 January 1999, French-born Daniel Chieppa and his Balinese wife Yatna have built a place that combines permaculture, yoga, and budget-friendly comfort. The guesthouse has won Booking.com’s Traveller Award two years running and been featured in The Guardian and Honeycombers. It’s a family operation—Yatna handles the warmth and hospitality, while a rotating team of international yoga teachers brings variety to the daily schedule.
A typical day here is unstructured. Yoga classes run from early morning to evening, with nine slots to choose from. The styles on offer are genuinely varied: Ashtanga for those who like a rigorous sequence, slow Hatha for stretching out, Restorative for deep relaxation, Vinyasa for a fluid workout, and Yin for long-held poses that target connective tissue. There are also more unusual options like Acroyoga (partner acrobatics and trust work) and FlyHigh yoga, where you practice with a silk hanging belt—limited to six people per class.
The teaching team is international and changes throughout the year. You might practice with Diaz, a 500-hour trained teacher who blends Vinyasa with Budokon martial arts, or with Tao, an ERYT-500 with over a decade of experience and training in trauma integration. There’s Edi, a former hotel manager who found yoga after burnout, and Max, who leads dynamic, all-levels flows with breathwork. With so many teachers on rotation, no two weeks are the same.
Location is a big part of the appeal. Canggu is Bali’s health-and-wellness hub, full of organic cafes, surf schools, and fitness studios. Serenity sits on Nelayan Street, an up-and-coming lane that’s still quiet enough for good sleep, but a short walk from the beach and the bustling main roads. The guesthouse itself is a smoke- and alcohol-free zone, with composting, grey-water recycling, and natural pest control—so you’re living lightly while you’re there.
What makes this retreat different is the freedom it gives you. There’s no fixed itinerary, no group activities you have to join. You can practice yoga intensively, or barely at all—the unlimited pass means you never feel like you’re wasting money if you skip a class. The month-long stay also means you can settle into a rhythm, get to know the regulars, and leave feeling genuinely restored rather than just passing through.
