35-Day Himalayan Ayurvedic Weight Loss & Beauty Transformation Retreat in Kathmandu

35-Day Himalayan Ayurvedic Weight Loss & Beauty Transformation Retreat in Kathmandu

Kathmandu · 35 days · From EUR 4198

Jungle Mahal sits in the Chandragiri Community Forest at 1,650 metres, and the altitude and climate are treated as part of the treatment. Temperatures stay between 15 and 25°C year-round, and the programme claims this cooler microclimate supports fat metabolism better than hot coastal destinations. Guests stay on site for the full 34 nights and rarely leave except on the scheduled excursions.

The programme runs in four phases. Days 2–7 are preparation: Ayurvedic doctor consultations with Prakriti and Vikriti assessment, Nadee Pariksha pulse diagnosis, and daily fat-reduction oil therapies alongside Udvartana powder massage. Days 8–14 are the intensive Panchakarma block, with supervised Sodhana cleansing, Virechana purgation, Lekhana Basti medicated enemas and Kapha-Naashaka Vamana, supported by light khichadi meals and gentle movement rather than hard exercise. Days 15–21 move into body sculpting and beauty work — advanced Udvartana skin-tightening, full-body Abhyanga, Himalayan facial treatments, Charya dance, plus hikes to Chandragiri Hill and tours of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. Days 22–33 build a maintenance plan: how to eat, how to self-administer Marma practices, and an evening-by-evening beauty routine you keep after leaving. Days 34–35 are final measurements, before-and-after photography, and a graduation lunch.

What makes this different from a standard Ayurveda resort stay is the combination of duration, clinical structure and location. Thirty-four nights is long enough for a full Panchakarma sequence with rest days built in, and the doctor reviews weight, body fat and skin at each stage, adjusting treatments accordingly. The property is inside a community forest rather than a town, so the daily 'Vana Snana' forest bathing and walking meditation are done on actual trails with wildlife around you, not in a landscaped garden.

A day in Phase III looks like this: pre-dawn awakening and Ushapan, oil pulling, then power toning yoga asanas targeting problem areas with breathing work for lymphatic drainage; beauty-focused sattvic breakfast; a 30-minute doctor check with measurements; mid-morning Udvartana or Abhyanga; lunch built around antioxidant and collagen-supporting foods; an afternoon Chamomile-tea-style Himalayan facial or nourishing oil treatment; forest bathing at 5pm; dinner at 6pm; and chanting, Yoga Nidra and journaling before bed at 8pm. Gadgets are handed in at the start (optional but encouraged) and there is no television; days are structured around the schedule, meals and treatments.

The programme is run by the Jungle Mahal team in Kathmandu, with the Ayurvedic doctor conducting daily consultations and overseeing all cleansing procedures. Massage and Panchakarma therapies are carried out by the centre's Ayurvedic therapists using Himalayan herbs and oils. Because of the medical intensity — purgation, enemas and emesis included — intake requires a health assessment on arrival and ongoing consultation throughout.

Nearby, guests can reach Chandragiri Hills by hike or cable car, and day trips cover Kathmandu's old city and the heritage squares of Patan and Bhaktapur. Two guided hikes are included — one to a monastery and one to Chandragiri — and the rest of the time is spent on the property, in the treatment rooms and on the forest trails.
