4-Day Shamanic Drum-Making and Sound Retreat in Andalusia, Spain

The retreat is led by Marjolein Theunissen, who is based in Spain and runs other retreats in the country, including a 6-day reconnection retreat. The programme is confirmed before your stay, and the facilitator team is named at that point. The four days mix plant spirit work with ceremonial cacao, sound healing and trance drumming, with voice activation and ritual practice as the thread running through it.

Building your own drum is a core part of the weekend, not a side activity. You make a personal instrument during the retreat, use it in the sessions, and take it home as something to keep working with. The voice work is the other main element: using your own voice as a tool for release and connection alongside the ceremonies.

The setting does some of the work here. Guaro is a white village in the Sierra de las Nieves, inland from the coast and away from the resort crowds. The landscape is rugged and quiet, and the schedule leaves room for reflection between sessions rather than packing every hour.
