4-Day Wellness Escape in Ischia: Thermal Spa, Massages & Island Exploration

Italy · 4 days · From USD 525

The retreat is hosted by Ottorino at the Marina 10 Design Hotel & Spa, a small design hotel set back from the main square of Casamicciola Terme. The hotel has a slightly unusual layout—you reach the property through an art gallery that leads into a leafy park, which keeps the rooms quiet despite the central location. The rooms themselves are simple and modern, with private balconies or terraces overlooking the garden.

The spa is the heart of the trip. The private spa area includes an aromatherapy steam bath, a chromotherapy sensory shower, and a hydro-massage tub with jets for your feet and neck. You get a 50-minute Ayurvedic massage, a 50-minute full-body toning massage, and a 25-minute facial mud mask with a relaxing massage. These are spread over two days, which gives you time to actually unwind between treatments rather than rushing from one to the next.

Between treatments, the island is yours to explore. Casamicciola Terme has a lively seafront, a ferry port with connections to Naples and nearby islands, and a bus stop right by the hotel. The island's thermal parks, like Negombo and Poseidon Gardens, are a short bus ride away, and you can also hike through the hills for views over the Tyrrhenian Sea. The hotel can help arrange extras like wine tastings—one recent guest mentioned a wine tasting organised by the hotel that they really enjoyed.

Breakfast is a proper spread at the Caffè degli Artisti, overlooking the garden. There are Ischian pastries, homemade cakes, croissants, wood-fired rolls, fresh juices, eggs, omelettes, ricotta, mozzarella, and cured meats. Lunch and dinner aren't included, which is actually fine—Ischia has plenty of good restaurants, and the hotel's central location means you're never far from a decent meal.

A note on the wine connection: the hotel also runs a separate wine-themed retreat, and the page mentions an oenologist named Giuseppe Andreoli who coordinates a 'Wine Appreciation Course'. That's not part of this specific wellness package—it's a second, separate offering at the same property. The wellness break itself is purely about the spa, the food, and the island.
