5 Day Silent Mindfulness Meditation & Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica

The retreat is held at Villa Alma Dulce, set between the jungle and the beaches of Jaco on Costa Rica's central Pacific coast. The property has a pool, a yoga shala, and rooms with A/C, and the sounds of birds and waves replace traffic and notifications. Guests get picked up in San Jose on day one and dropped off there on the last afternoon, so the whole stay is self-contained.

A typical day starts with a yoga class led by Marta, a Yoga Alliance E-RYT500 teacher with over eight years of experience. Her sessions mix asana with pranayama and meditation, and she's known for making the practice accessible no matter your level. Afternoons include Yoga Nidra — the deep rest practice that's more about lying down and being guided through a body scan than about stretching — plus sessions of EFT tapping, sound therapy with Tibetan bowls, and Reiki.

What makes this retreat different from a standard yoga holiday is the silence and the specific energy work. EFT tapping targets stress and emotional blocks through acupressure points, sound baths use the resonant tones of singing bowls to shift brainwaves, and Reiki works on the chakras. Marta teaches all of these hands-on, so you leave with tools you can actually keep using at home.
