Rishikesh · 5 days · From USD 387
The 5 Day Yoga, Meditation & Ayurveda Wellness Retreat at Rishikesh Yoga Ashram is a complete introduction to the yogic lifestyle. Your mornings start early with a 90-minute asana class, followed by a cleansing routine (shatkarma) and then a breathwork practice to sharpen your focus. After brunch, you have free time until the afternoon—you could join a guided group excursion to one of Rishikesh's temples, get an Ayurvedic consultation, or just rest before the second yoga class of the day.
The teaching covers several styles: Hatha Yoga to build foundations, Vinyasa Flow for a more dynamic practice, and Ashtanga for those wanting a challenge. Pranayama (breath control) and meditation are taught as separate daily sessions, so you learn how to sit with your own mind. Sunday is an official off-day, giving you a break in the middle of the week to rest, explore, or take an optional excursion to the nearby waterfalls.
What makes this retreat stand out is its location and the quality of the teaching. Rishikesh isn't just a pretty backdrop—it's a center of yoga for centuries, and the ashram is run by Yogi Arvind Negi, who has a master's in Yoga and has trained many of the other teachers on site. The group is small, typically no more than 30 people, so you get personal attention. The food is all vegetarian and prepared according to Ayurvedic principles, which means it's designed to be digestible, seasonal, and to support the physical practice.
