5-Day Yin Yoga Teacher Training on Sri Lanka's South Coast

5-Day Yin Yoga Teacher Training on Sri Lanka's South Coast

Sri Lanka · 5 days · From EUR 788

This training runs for five days and is capped at 50 hours, which makes it a practical option if you want a solid Yin grounding without stepping away from teaching or work for weeks. The programme is split between theory and practice. On the theory side, you'll go through the Five Elements in detail — how each element relates to physiology, emotional states, specific organs and corresponding regions of the body. You'll also cover the movement of chi through meridian pathways and the key acupressure points, and then look at how those energetic concepts actually show up in a physical practice rather than staying abstract.

The practical side is where most of the hours go. You'll work through a broad range of Yin postures along with their modifications, so you can adapt shapes to different bodies and different needs in a real class. There's a proper look at props — why they matter, when to use them, how to use them well — and techniques for myofascial release that sit alongside the longer-held poses. The teaching methodology part focuses specifically on the language of cueing within an elemental framework, which is the bit most people find hardest when they start teaching Yin.

What separates this from a generic online Yin course is that you're doing it in person, on the south coast of Sri Lanka, with a facilitator team guiding the sessions. You move between study and practice across the five days rather than watching videos in your living room. The setting helps — Ahangama is a small coastal town with surf breaks, beach cafés and a relaxed pace, so the time outside sessions is genuinely restful.

You don't need to be an experienced teacher to join. The programme is set up for aspiring teachers and dedicated practitioners alike, and it works whether you're adding Yin to an existing teaching repertoire or starting from scratch. By the end you should have a structured foundation in both the philosophy and the hands-on skills to guide others.

Accommodation is arranged per booking through the retreat leader, with several room options at different price points — from a private standard room with a shared bathroom up to a private single with a double bed and air conditioning. Meals are tailored to the group and dietary needs are confirmed before you arrive. Full directions and travel guidance are shared once your booking is confirmed.
