50-Hour Yin Yoga & Acupressure Teacher Training in Tenerife

50-Hour Yin Yoga & Acupressure Teacher Training in Tenerife

Canary Islands · 8 days · From USD 950

The course runs over eight days and totals 50 hours, with a structure that mixes physical practice, anatomy, philosophy, and teaching skills. Most mornings start with meditation and mantra chanting at 7 a.m., followed by a two-hour vinyasa practice to get the body moving before breakfast. The rest of the morning is given over to the Yin asana lab, where you dissect the classical Yin postures—how to set them up, where you should feel the stretch, and how long to hold each one. Afternoons switch between theory classes and more practice, with time for a second Yin session before dinner. The theory covers Yin history and the Taoist ideas behind it, the five elements and how they connect to emotions and meridians, the anatomy of connective tissue and fascia, and how Yin differs from Yang styles like vinyasa. You'll also cover injury prevention and how to teach to different bodies, using props and variations.

What makes this course different from a bigger 200-hour training is the scale and the personal focus. In a group of no more than nine, the teachers—Andrea and Maya on the January and summer courses—can adjust your postures directly and give feedback every day. The teaching style is encouraging rather than exam-driven; there are daily progress checks but no tests or grades. You're expected to practice teaching in front of the group, with feedback that is constructive but kind. A guest facilitator duo, Tiana and Adam, also joins the January 2025 and summer 2025 courses to lead sessions in somatic dance, art therapy, and creative expression, which adds a different dimension to the training.

The school itself, Shambhala, was founded by Andrea in 2020, and it runs teacher trainings throughout the year—the 50-hour Yin course, plus 200-hour and 300-hour trainings and other 50-hour specializations. The house is set in the green hills of Los Realejos, near the north coast of Tenerife, with easy access to the beaches and hiking trails. The climate is mild year-round, the average around 22 degrees Celsius. If you want a break from studying, Puerto de la Cruz is a short drive away, and the school can help organize hikes, kayak trips, or a day at the beach.
