Koh Phangan · 8 days · From USD 604
The course curriculum is built around four main pillars: Yin Yoga methodology, a functional approach to anatomy, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and the art of teaching. You'll learn how to apply Paul Grilley's functional anatomy framework—looking at skeletal variation and myofascial groups—to help you guide students safely. The TCM component explores the meridian system and how long-held poses can affect organ health and energy flow. Pranayama is woven throughout, with a focus on stimulating the vagus nerve and activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which is what makes Yin feel so deeply restful.
What makes this training special is the teaching team. Paula, a former registered nurse from Ireland, brings an anatomy-inspired approach, combining her Western medical background with Eastern energy practices. Konstanza, with a background in psychology and 800+ hours of training, adds a trauma-informed, heart-centered perspective. They're both long-term practitioners who live and breathe this stuff, and they're known for being approachable and giving detailed, constructive feedback during practice teaching sessions.
The location on Koh Phangan's west coast in Srithanu is a big part of the experience. The resort has its own private beach, yoga shalas with sea views, and is set in a lush, tropical garden. It's a short walk to other beaches, restaurants, and the island's famous sunset points, but the property itself feels peaceful and removed from the busier parts of the island. The training is residential, so you're living on campus with the other students, which builds a strong sense of community. Meals are buffet-style and plant-based, focused on fresh, nourishing Thai, Indian, and Western-inspired dishes.
This isn't a passive retreat where you just attend classes. You'll be actively involved in anatomy labs, partner work, and practice teaching sessions. By the end of the week, you'll have planned and taught a Yin sequence. You also get free access to the school's online studio for 30 days after the course, with over 900 classes, so you can keep up your practice and continue learning once you're home. The training is registered with Yoga Alliance, so if you're a teacher, these hours count toward your continuing education.
