Rishikesh · 6 days · From USD 462
The training runs over six days and covers a solid fifty hours of content. You'll be doing seated meditation every day, but the programme isn't only sitting — there are lectures on the theory behind the techniques, small-group practice where you take turns guiding others, and sessions on mantra chanting. The teachers keep the groups small enough that you can ask questions as they come up, not at the end of the week.
Techniques covered include Antar Mouna (inner silence), Yoga Nidra (the guided relaxation practice), and Chidaksha Dharana (a concentration practice on the space of consciousness). You'll also learn how these fit into a broader teaching context — for example, how to lead a Yoga Nidra session for a group of beginners versus experienced students. The philosophy sessions give you the background to explain why these practices work, without getting lost in jargon.
What makes this different from a lot of meditation courses is the emphasis on teaching methodology. Plenty of trainings assume that if you can meditate, you can teach it. Here you actually practise teaching, get feedback, and work on your own presence and voice. The small group size makes that possible; with fifteen people, everyone gets a turn to lead and everyone gets individual notes.
The location plays a part too. Rishikesh is a pilgrimage town, so the atmosphere outside the classroom supports what you're doing inside it. You can walk to the Ganges in ten minutes, attend a Ganga Aarti ceremony in the evening if you want, or find a quiet spot to sit on your own. Moola Yoga itself is a proper training centre with a dedicated meditation hall and spaces to study.
The lead teachers are experienced practitioners who have been teaching in Rishikesh for years. They know the material well and they know how to work with Western students who might be new to the traditional framework. You'll get clear instruction, and you'll also get space to ask the practical questions — how do I handle a student who falls asleep? What if someone gets emotional during Yoga Nidra? — that come up when you start teaching.
By the end of the six days, you should have both a stronger personal practice and a set of tools for teaching. You don't need to be an advanced meditator to join — you just need some experience and a genuine interest in going deeper. Most people leave with a clear idea of how to integrate meditation into their existing yoga classes or start offering standalone sessions.
