Home › Retreats › 6-Day Yoga and Surf Wellness Escape in Bali
Indonesia · 6 days · From USD 322
The retreat takes place at The Holy Camp, a small, secret hideaway in Padonan, Canggu, an area known for its rice fields and proximity to some of Bali's best surf beaches. The camp has been run for years as a mystical yoga space by a family whose roots go back to a sacred healer, and that heritage shows in the details: spiritual statues, water fountains, and a quiet pond with fish. Everything is built with a blend of traditional Balinese and modern Western style – white walls, stone floors, and airy bathrooms with open-air showers. The centerpiece is a 60-square-meter bamboo yoga shala set on the lawn, shaded by palm trees and looking onto the rice fields.
The practice itself is designed to be comprehensive and accessible. Twice a day, certified instructors lead sessions that range from energizing morning flows to calming evening stretches. All equipment – mats, blocks, bolsters, and belts – is provided, so you only need to show up in comfortable clothes. Evening classes are a good chance to work out the day's surf-induced stiffness. On top of yoga, the week includes mindful workshops, which might cover anything from meditation to self-inquiry, and are intended to complement the physical practice with mental space. The workshop schedule rotates, but guests consistently mention the quality of the teachers and the variety of yoga styles on offer.
What makes this retreat stand out is the combination of yoga and surfing. Bali is famous for its waves, and this camp is just a short drive from several classic breaks, including Pererenan, Echo Beach, and Batu Bolong. The package itself is predominantly a yoga retreat, but you have the option to add a two-hour surf class (for an extra fee) – a great way to dive into the local surf culture in a supportive, small-group environment. The daily rhythm of ups and downs, similar to the surf, is reflected in the yoga: you'll leave feeling more flexible, clearer-headed, and certainly well-fed.
The food is a major part of the experience. Meals are vegetarian and largely vegan, prepared fresh on-site by a chef who focuses on sugar-free, gluten-free, and homemade dishes. Breakfast and dinner are included daily, featuring a rotating menu of Balinese and Western favorites. The camp subscribes to a holistic approach to eating, but the focus is on taste and satisfaction as much as on health. Water, tea, and coffee are freely available, and the camp also provides access to an ice bath – a favorite amenity for cooling down after an intense session. With its intimate scale and warm, family-like vibe, this retreat is perfect for solo travelers, couples, and small groups of friends looking for a friendly, restorative week in Bali.
