7-Day Holistic Yoga and Ayurveda Wellness Retreat in Benaulim, Goa

Niramaya Yoga runs this week from a villa in Benaulim, on the quieter southern stretch of Goa. The program is built around a holistic Hatha yoga tradition, and the teaching team is deliberately small. Subit, who leads the center, is an internationally certified Ashtanga and Hatha teacher. Dorothea, the principal teacher, is a German state-approved physiotherapist and certified yoga therapist, so the anatomy focus is real, not just talked about. Together they read each person's body rather than running everyone through the same sequence, and they're used to working with beginners as much as experienced practitioners.

A typical day starts with guided meditation, then a one-hour Hatha yoga and pranayama session. Mornings also bring Ayurveda and lifestyle guidance. Afternoons move into the restorative work – therapeutic yoga, yin yoga, yoga nidra, kriya. Evenings often include a satsang or a philosophy talk covering things like the Yoga Sutras and the eight limbs, taught in a way that connects to daily life rather than staying academic. There's a silent session built in too, which gives the mind a genuine break.

The villa accommodation is simple but comfortable, with the two wooden cabanas being the standout – 35 square meters, high wood ceilings, insect-screened sliding windows, and a private terrace. The food is all-inclusive and strictly sattvic, Ayurvedic vegetarian or vegan, cooked fresh for each meal. There are good cafés and restaurants within a kilometer if you want to wander out, and the beach is roughly ten minutes on foot. The center can also arrange extras like Ayurvedic treatments, private classes, and airport pickups for an additional cost.
