Premier Fitness Camp has been running weight-loss and fitness programs for years, and the Spa Fit week is their attempt to pair that core curriculum with proper spa-level recovery. Every day starts early—around 6:30 or 7:00 am—with either a nutrition shake or a health assessment, then moves into a workout like bootcamp, boxing, spin, or a beach session. After lunch there's usually a lecture or a cooking demonstration, and then the afternoon is blocked off for a 50-minute spa treatment of your choice from a menu of more than 30 services.
The spa treatments aren't just a reward for working out. PFC cites research showing massage and integrative therapies help with anxiety, joint pain, digestion, and muscle soreness, so the spa session is part of the recovery plan. You can book a hot stone massage, reflexology, craniosacral therapy, a hydrafacial, a detoxifying sea mineral body wrap, or energy work, among others. The therapists work with the trainers to make sure the treatment supports whatever you've been doing in the gym.
The Omni La Costa property deserves its own mention. Recently named the #1 Wellness Spa in the nation by Spa Magazine and a top-five pick by Travel + Leisure, it's a sprawling Spanish-style resort with gardens, fountains, and palm trees. There are eight pools, a golf course, tennis courts, and the spa itself. The retreat includes access to all of it—guests can walk the reflexology pathway, sip citrus elixirs, or just lie by the pool when they're not in a session.
Chef Ryan runs the kitchen, and he's got a serious resume—he started cooking at 16 in San Diego, worked in New York under top chefs, and spent time in Portland before coming back to California. The food is nutrient-dense and portion-controlled, with a focus on sustainable, plant-forward ingredients, but it's designed to be satisfying rather than punishing. Breakfast might be a chocolate coconut muffin with berries; dinner could be pork tenderloin with black bean sauce and coconut yams. There are also cooking demos and nutrition lectures so you can actually replicate some of it at home.
