Home › Retreats › 7-Day Muay Thai Training Camp on La Palma, Canary Islands
Canary Islands · 7 days · From EUR 1299
A typical day starts in the morning with conditioning — either a run or a hike on one of La Palma's trails, depending on what the group is doing that day. You're training outdoors in mild Canary Islands weather, and the routes take in the island's greenery, volcanic ground and coastal views. After that, the day is free until the evening session.
Evening training is the core of the camp: three hours of Muay Thai with the local group and international participants. The coaches work on technique, precision, timing and movement, and they give individual corrections throughout. It's a traditional Muay Thai approach — clinch work, pad work, footwork, and the details that only come from someone watching you closely. Because the local team trains alongside you, the standard is high, but the coaches scale the intensity to your level.
What separates this from a standard fight camp is the personal attention. The camp is built around the idea that no one is just another number — you get detailed technical feedback every session, and the programme is adapted to your age, experience and current fitness. The gym is modern and well equipped, and you have full access to it and the training equipment for the duration of your stay.
Beyond Muay Thai, there's the option to expand into MMA and BJJ under professional guidance. The camp also builds in recovery and island time: the schedule combines serious training with morning conditioning in nature and the chance to explore La Palma's trails, beaches, natural pools and national park.
The location is Santa Cruz de La Palma, the island's capital — small, walkable, and with everything you need nearby: supermarket, local market, pharmacy. Your apartment is a four-minute walk from the ocean and ten minutes from the mountains, so you can swim before training or head uphill on a rest afternoon. La Palma has direct flights from Madrid, Barcelona, Tenerife and Gran Canaria, plus Germany, Switzerland, the UK and the Netherlands. The airport is a 15-minute drive away, and a transfer can be arranged for €20 paid to the driver.
The camp is run by Joa, a world champion in martial arts, personal trainer and women's mentor. She has over 20 years of experience in camp life and coaching, and the training is led by her and a team of traditional Muay Thai coaches. The stated aim is authentic, Thai-level Muay Thai in an island setting that's far from mass tourism.
