7 Day Personalized Wellness and Yoga Escape in Costa Rica's Rainforest

Set on the slopes overlooking Lake Arenal and the Arenal Volcano, this retreat offers daily yoga, access to a jungle spa, and farm-to-table vegetarian meals. The program is designed to be flexible – guests can join activities or skip them, making it suitable for those who want a structured practice or a more laid-back holiday.

The property, Essence Arenal Wellness Center, spans 22 hectares of lush rainforest and includes an organic permaculture farm, hiking trails, a swimming pool, a volleyball court, and a dedicated yoga deck. The on-site spa features a Finnish sauna, jacuzzi, Turkish bath, and offers holistic therapies like Reiki and Temazcal ceremonies.

A typical day begins with yoga at 7:00 AM, followed by breakfast. Afternoons are free for optional activities like permaculture tours, cacao workshops, or spa treatments. A spa circuit with panoramic volcano views is open daily, with one complimentary hour of aromatherapy. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, there is an additional sunset yoga class at 3:00 PM.

The retreat is hosted by Nico, who founded the center in 2008 after his own transformative journey with weight loss and emotional healing. The team also includes yoga teacher Michelle, Reiki practitioner, and Hatha yoga instructor Alejandro, among others.
