8-Day Lifestyle Medicine Health Reset in Muskoka, Ontario

The programme runs for eight days at Camp Frenda, 1231 Morinus Rd, Port Carling, Ontario, on Lake Rousseau in Muskoka. Days combine clinical appointments with therapies and group sessions. You will have on-site naturopathic consultations, body composition testing and fitness testing, and a personalised health plan written for you. A pharmacist manages medications during the week, which is how guests have been able to discontinue or reduce prescriptions for blood sugar, cholesterol and hypertension under supervision.

Therapy side includes massage therapy, hydrotherapy, exercise therapy, psychotherapy and detox. Exercise is led by certified personal trainers and an exercise physiologist. Education comes in the form of doctor health talks, cooking demonstrations and group support sessions. The clinical team includes naturopathic doctors, a pharmacist, a registered massage therapist, a nutritionist, certified personal trainers, an exercise physiologist and psychotherapists.

It is doctor-supervised, results from the previous cohort are published (6 lbs average weight loss per guest in one week), and more than $900 of the fee is eligible for insurance coverage under naturopathic, massage therapy and psychotherapy, with direct billing available. Companions can come along at a lower rate, though therapies and treatments are not included for them.
