Nicaragua · 8 days · From USD 733
Eden on the Chocolata sits on a hillside between the jungle and the ocean, a short walk from two beaches and a ten-minute drive from the surf town of San Juan del Sur. The retreat center is a collection of wooden bungalows spread through a garden full of flowers, fruit trees, and hammocks. Everything runs on solar power, and the vibe is more thoughtful eco-lodge than polished resort. You will hear howler monkeys in the distance and see iguanas on the paths; at night the stars are bright and the air is cool.
The daily rhythm is simple. Coffee is ready by seven, followed by a morning Vinyasa class on the yoga deck with ocean views. After a slow breakfast, the middle of the day is flexible—you can join a workshop, book a private healing session, take an ice bath, or head to the beach. Lunch is served at one, and the afternoon is free for exploring nearby towns or resting. A Yin class at five eases you into evening, followed by a three-course dinner where guests eat together.
What sets this retreat apart is the range of included extras. The temazcal, a traditional sweat lodge ceremony, is a powerful experience that most retreats charge extra for. The cacao ceremony uses locally produced cacao. Your private session—either energy healing or breathwork—is tailored to you after a conversation with the team on arrival. The ice baths are guided and private, and the sound healing and transformational breathwork class round out the week.
The teaching team brings real depth. LaToya Maria has over fifteen years of experience in therapeutic practice, ayurveda, and sound therapy, and leads workshops on embodiment and emotional wellbeing. Chrissy is a yoga and fitness instructor and SOMA breathwork facilitator who focuses on mindset and empowerment coaching. Together, they create a container that feels safe for the inner work this retreat invites.
The property itself is small enough to feel personal. Guests consistently mention the kindness of the staff and the tranquility of the space, even at full occupancy. The food is vegetarian, mostly gluten-free and dairy-free, made from scratch with local ingredients. It is honest, healthy cooking that supports the energy demands of yoga and breathwork without leaving you hungry.
