8 Day Yoga, E-biking & Hiking Holiday in Fuerteventura, Spain

Days normally begin on the beach. Your yoga teacher Tjasa has taught on the island for over fifteen years, and her morning classes are a gentle vinyasa flow with yin elements. They happen about a 25-minute walk along the shore from the hotel, so the walk itself is part of the experience. Tjasa offers variations for beginners, and the hour is more about ease than effort.

The e-bike tours are the heart of the trip. Bas, who runs the tours, will give you a battery-powered bike and take you across the north of the island. You'll visit volcano craters, some overrun by chipmunks, others with prehistorical foot engravings and stories of witch ghosts. Because the bikes are electric, you get the views without the exhaustion — genuine effort stays optional. These tours are capped at about four people so Bas can match the pace to the group.

Two excursions stand out. The first is a voyage to the island of Los Lobos, where you'll hike to the island's highest point and swim in blue lagoons when you come down. The second is a trip to the Ajuy Caves, followed by a walk through Las Penitas Canyon. This place has been used as a setting for Hollywood productions, and you climb up to a dramatic natural window before a sandwich picnic lunch.

The holiday is self-catering, which is deliberate. FuerteXperience believes eating out in Corralejo is part of the experience, so they give you a guide to their favourite local restaurants instead of serving meals themselves. Guests often meet up for dinner together. Free afternoons are built in, and optional extras can be added such as massages, catamaran trips and dolphin watching.
