Home › Retreats › 8-Day Yoga & Wellness Retreat in Mauritius with Excursions
Europe · 8 days · From USD 2350
Salty Serenity is hosted by Salty Retreats Mauritius, a wellness company founded by Josephine and Océane, two Mauritian women who live in La Gaulette. They intentionally keep groups small—between 2 and 10 people—so that every guest gets personal attention. The week is structured around daily yoga classes led by Roxy Wild, a local teacher known for her Vinyasa and Yin Yoga sessions. Roxy also runs full moon yoga on Tamarin Beach and teacher training in Mauritius, so she’s a seasoned instructor who seems to know how to adjust for all levels.
Typical days start with yoga at a scenic spot—sometimes on the beach, sometimes at Le Morne Beach after brunch, or at Le Mana for a Yin session. Excursions are baked into the schedule almost every day. There’s a morning hike with panoramic views and a boat trip to Îlot Benitier for lunch, a luxury catamaran sunset cruise with barbecue dinner, a full-day catamaran cruise across pristine lagoons, a dolphin excursion, and a hike to Tamarind Falls (7 Cascades) where you can swim in natural pools. Evenings often include a welcome dinner at Domaine de Wolmar, a Creole cooking class, an ecstatic dance at The Green Village, or a farewell dinner at Le Repere villa.
Cultural and nature activities are woven throughout, but there’s also unstructured time—time to swim, read by the pool, or check out the kitesurfing spots near La Gaulette. The final day is a short walk and yoga in Black River Gorges National Park before checkout and your airport transfer.
Meals are a standout. A local chef prepares three daily meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—with fresh, local ingredients. Expect Creole-inspired dishes with vegan, vegetarian, and other dietary options available. The retreat is all-inclusive: airport pickup, daily yoga, all excursions, cooking class, and transportation during the week are covered.
The hosts, Josephine and Océane, describe the retreat as a personal journey and a space where women (and men) can feel free and supported. While the word 'transformative' appears in the copy, what you’re actually getting is a well-organized week of yoga, island exploration, and good food. The vibe is laid-back and community-focused, and the small group size means you’ll likely make friends.
Overall, this retreat is best for active travelers who want a taste of yoga and a heavy dose of Mauritius’ natural beauty. If you’ve never done yoga, that’s fine—the classes are adaptable. But if you expect a week of hard workouts or deep silence, this isn’t it. It’s a balanced mix of movement, adventure, and relaxation.
