Rishikesh · 31 days · From USD 820
This 300-hour training at Akshi Yogashala is built for graduates of a 200-hour course who want to move beyond the fundamentals. The curriculum is a mix of advanced asana (including a long list of challenging poses like Kapotasana, Pincha Mayurasana, and various Shirshasana variations), detailed pranayama work, yoga philosophy from the classical texts, and anatomy. There's a strong emphasis on the more subtle practices — yoga nidra, kriyas, bandhas, mudras, and mantra — which many Western trainings only touch on.
A typical day starts at 5:30am with ginger or herbal tea, followed by a 90-minute Hatha class, then pranayama. After breakfast you'll have anatomy, and then mantra or alignment/adjustment workshops. The afternoon brings philosophy or Ayurveda, followed by a Vinyasa flow, and ends with meditation and relaxation before dinner. There are no half-days on this course — the schedule is full, and you're expected to put in the hours.
The school is located in a quiet, forested area near Rajaji National Park, a short walk from the Ganga and a local market. It's a 10-minute drive from Rishikesh bus station and about 35-40 minutes from Haridwar railway station and Dehradun airport. Meals are organic, vegan, and vegetarian, served three times a day. There are weekly excursions to Rishikesh's landmarks, plus evening kirtans, movie nights, and other activities to balance the intense study.
