Home › Retreats › Aerial Arts & Yoga Escape in the Guatemalan Highlands
Guatemala · 5 days · From USD 1076
The days follow a rhythm that blends movement and rest. Each morning starts with yoga and movement classes to wake up the body, followed by a session of aerial yoga or hammock fitness. The afternoons are dedicated to 90-minute workshops where you'll rotate through silks, hoop, and trapeze, learning the basics of each apparatus. If you're the only participant, you can also choose to focus on a single apparatus for the whole stay, deepening your practice in that one discipline.
Aerial arts are surprisingly full-body, so the retreat balances the physical intensity with Hatha yoga in the late afternoon, often with a flexibility focus, to stretch out the muscles you've just worked. Dani has been teaching since 2010, studied yoga in India, and trained in fitness and aerial yoga in the UK. Her most recent training was at Abhinam Yoga school in Goa under Yog Namito, a long-term student of Swami Satyananda, BKS Iyengar, and Osho. She also holds a Pilates certificate from Spain, so the movement instruction here is well-rounded and safety-conscious.
The setting adds to the experience. The retreat takes place in Casa Blanca, a private property on a mountain slope, surrounded by farms, with views of at least two volcanoes. The altitude — about 2,000 meters above sea level — keeps temperatures pleasant during the day but chilly after 5 pm, so you'll want warm layers for the evenings. Antigua, the beautiful colonial town, is only a 15-minute drive away, and Jorge, Dani's partner, can help you plan excursions like volcano hikes or museum visits on your free time.
