Aerial Gratitude is Christelle Iagnemma's school, based in Figueira da Foz. She trained as a special-needs educator, then as a movement and dance teacher in Munich, and founded AeroYoga Luxembourg in 2016 before moving to Portugal and setting up Aerial Gratitude. She teaches in Portuguese, French, English and German, so sessions can run in whichever language the group needs — the retreats themselves are offered in French.
A typical day starts with aerial yoga in the fabric. The hammock supports the body, so you can hang, invert and stretch the spine without loading your neck or wrists. Christelle adjusts postures individually, which is why group sizes stay small. The middle of the day is free: the beaches at Buarcos, Cabedelo and Murtinheira are close, as is the Lagoa da Vela, and the Serra da Boa Viagem is nearby for a walk. Evenings bring meditation, breathing work or a slower aerial practice.
The retreats differ from each other. Osmose, 6–10 May 2027, is a New Moon retreat led with Bettina of Odonata Eveil, for a maximum of seven women, from €1,250. Rhythm in Your Soul, 8–12 July 2027, is led with DJ Aka Ghost (Gustavo Morales). There is also a private four-day option for a group of friends, priced to suit the group.
Retreats run 3, 5 or 7 days and cost between €399 and €3,250 depending on the programme and the accommodation. What's included varies by retreat and is set out in each programme — for Osmose that means accommodation, meals and a shuttle from Porto airport, the nearest airport.
No aerial yoga experience is needed. The fabric carries you, and Christelle works at the level of whoever is in front of her.
