Home › Retreats › Altitude HYROX Camp in the Swiss Alps: Train at 1,500m+
Switzerland · 6 days
The training terrace at Chalet Les Rahas is set up specifically for HYROX-style work. You'll find Concept2 RowERG and SkiERG machines, wall balls, functional weights, and separate zones for mobility and conditioning — all outdoors, with panoramic views of the Valais peaks. The setting means you're not stuck in a basement gym; you're training at altitude with mountain air and big scenery around you.
Altitude is the main training variable here. At over 1,500 metres, your cardiovascular system has to work harder, which increases the demand on your heart and lungs from the first session. Over a few days, your body starts adapting to the thinner air, improving how efficiently you use oxygen. For HYROX athletes, that translates into a stronger aerobic base — the kind that holds up over eight stations and repeated running.
Recovery is treated as part of the programme, not an afterthought. There's a cold room for inflammation and adaptation, a sauna for heat exposure, a hammam for steam and muscle relaxation, and a hot tub outside. The idea is to back up hard sessions with proper recovery so you can maintain quality across the camp.
Every camp is tailor-made. You can come as an individual athlete, a training group, an elite athlete, or a coach with a team. You can bring your own coach or ask for introductions to local trainers. You choose your accommodation setup, how many sessions you want, and whether to combine training with mountain activities like trail running in summer or alpine pursuits in winter. The chalet is open year-round.
The property itself is a luxury mountain retreat in one of the most beautiful alpine villages in Valais. It's quiet and designed for focus. Between sessions, you can rest on the panoramic terraces, walk into the village, or head straight onto mountain trails. The whole environment — altitude, facilities, recovery, and calm — is set up so athletes sleep deeper and train sharper.
