Home › Retreats › Amalfi Coast Yoga & Food Week: Daily Vinyasa, Coastal Hikes and Villa Dining Near Sorrento
Amalfi Coast · 8 days
A typical day starts with vinyasa flow on a sea-view terrace or lawn, taught by Heidi d'Esposito, a certified instructor who trained in NYC and teaches in English. Breakfast follows at the villa. After that, the day opens up: on excursion days you might be walking the Path of the Gods with your guides, cooking with a local chef, or taking a boat across to Capri. Optional meditation and yin sessions are offered on top of the daily vinyasa, so there's scope to add a second, quieter practice if you want it.
The villa itself does a lot of the work here. There's a pool, a chef's kitchen, wifi, cable television, terraces and lawns for practice, and lemon groves on the property. Two of the dinners are four-course affairs prepared at the villa by a private chef, and there's a dinner with a local nonna and a Neapolitan pizza night elsewhere in the week. The food is farm-to-table, and the lemons you'll see on the trees are the same ones showing up on the table.
Where this differs from most Amalfi yoga weeks is the local access. The team behind it are residents of the coast, and the week is built around what they can get you into: the Path of the Gods hike, a guided boat tour of Capri, a hands-on cooking class, dinner in a local home. On the two free days, private transport is arranged to take you to nearby towns and beaches, so you're not left to negotiate ferries and buses on your own.
Heidi's teaching background is vinyasa flow, and she also leads a yoga-and-hike combination: from the seaside town of Nerano, the group follows an old mountain path above the coastline through terraced olive groves to the Bay of Ieranto. The bay is protected and closed to boats, so it's only reachable on foot. Once there, she teaches a 60-minute private class on a platform over the water, with Capri in view, followed by time to swim and a snack before hiking back.
The week is capped by what's around you. Yoga happens on a rooftop or terrace looking out over the Bay of Naples, with Capri, Ischia and Mount Vesuvius all in the frame — the setup was featured in Yoga Journal. Airport or train station transfers both ways are included, so the logistics on arrival and departure are handled.
