Nepal · 7 days · From USD 586
The Poon Hill Yoga Trek is a seven-day circuit that starts and ends in Pokhara. After a day of settling in, you'll drive to Nayapul and walk through the Modi Khola valley, past waterfalls and small settlements, to the village of Tikhedhunga. The next day is the hardest – a steep climb up thousands of stone steps to Ghorepani, a ridge-top village at 2,850 meters. You'll pass through Ulleri, a Magar village, and then climb through forests of rhododendron and oak.
The payoff comes on day four, when you wake before dawn and hike to Poon Hill. The 360-degree panorama takes in Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and a dozen other peaks. It's a moment most trekkers describe as one of the best of their lives. After breakfast, you'll continue through more forest to Tadapani, where a short evening yoga session helps stretch out tired legs.
Days five and six take you downhill to Ghandruk. This is one of the largest Gurung villages in Nepal, known for its stone houses, narrow alleys, and museum. From there, you descend back to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara for a final night. Throughout the trek, your guides – Priya and Jay – lead yoga and meditation sessions, teach breathing techniques, and share their knowledge of the local culture and environment.
The trek is open to all fitness levels. The walking is done at a moderate pace with plenty of breaks, and your guides will keep an eye on how everyone is feeling. Daily yoga helps with recovery and keeps your muscles loose. This is a great way to experience the Annapurna region without the crowds of the more popular routes, and to come away feeling both accomplished and relaxed.
