Home › Retreats › Artful Yoga and Thai Culture Retreat by the Ping River
Chiang Mai · 4 days · From USD 706
Taladya Homestay is a traditional teakwood house on the banks of the Ping River, run by French couple Nathalie and Patrick. Nathalie is a contemporary visual artist who leads the creative side of the retreat, while Patrick handles hosting and hospitality. The homestay has just two guest rooms, so you’ll never share the space with more than three other travelers. The small group format means the schedule can flex around you—if you want to spend longer on your artwork or skip an outing to read by the pool, that’s fine.
Mornings begin with yoga and meditation in the open-air shala overlooking the river. Ploy, a local meditation guide, teaches Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and mindfulness practices, often incorporating Thai Hermit Yoga—an ancient tradition of gentle, breath-centered movements that originated with Thai ascetics. These sessions are suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
The creative and cultural exploration is the heart of this retreat. You’ll visit a celadon ceramics factory where you can choose a piece to take home, a bamboo umbrella workshop, and the village of Baan Tawai, known for its wood carving and handicraft markets. Back at the homestay, Nathalie helps you paint or decorate your chosen items, no artistic experience needed. This is a retreat for travelers who want to leave with a tangible souvenir of their time in Thailand, made by their own hands.
