Atlantic Surf & Yoga Week in Morocco's Longest Wave Village

Morocco · 7 days · From USD 560

Each day follows the ocean's schedule. You'll wake up, eat breakfast at the house, then head down to the bay for a guided surf session. The instructors grew up surfing these waves and know exactly where to position you for the best rides. Beginners work on popping up and trimming along the whitewater; intermediate surfers paddle further out to catch the longer green waves that peel gently toward the harbour.

After a couple of hours in the water, lunch happens either on the beach or at one of the village's simple fish restaurants. The afternoon is unscheduled — you can nap, walk the cliffs, paddle out again on your own, or just sit on the terrace with a book. Around sunset, everyone gathers on the rooftop for a yoga session designed to undo the tension that surfing puts through your shoulders, hips and lower back. The stretches are practical rather than spiritual: pigeon pose for tight hip flexors, shoulder openers for paddling fatigue, core work to help you pop up faster.

Dinner is served family-style at the surf house. Expect tagine, couscous, fresh salads, grilled vegetables, and plenty of bread. The food is traditional Moroccan home cooking — nothing fancy, but filling and good after a day in the ocean. After dinner, some nights there's a surf video review where the instructors break down footage from the day's session. Other nights you'll wander into the village for mint tea or just stay on the terrace talking until the stars come out.

The group is usually a mix of solo travellers, couples, and small friend groups from across Europe. Most people come alone and leave with new surf buddies. The vibe is social but not forced — there's always company if you want it, and space if you don't.

By the end of the week, you'll have logged a lot of water time. Beginners typically go from floundering in the whitewater to catching and riding their own waves. Intermediate surfers get to practise on a long, forgiving wave that offers more repetition than most beach breaks back home. Either way, you'll leave tired, sun-bleached, and probably already thinking about when to come back.
