Authentic Balinese Culture & Wellness Retreat with Daily Yoga in Bali

Indonesia · 7 days · From USD 1077

Bali Palms sits on over five acres of land in Laleng village, an area locals call the “Real Bali”. It's about two and a half hours from Ngurah Rai International Airport, intentionally remote so you're surrounded by rice fields, rivers, and jungle rather than beach clubs and traffic. The property has just ten cabins, which keeps groups small and the atmosphere calm. The owner built the place years ago after searching for a hidden spot that combined comfort with nature, and that original idea still shapes how it runs today — a limited number of guests, personal attention, and an emphasis on experiencing Bali as it used to be.

Rather than a full timetable of exhausting activities, the schedule mixes two daily yoga and meditation classes with hands-on cultural sessions. On day two you'll make Canang Sari — the palm-leaf offerings you see everywhere in Bali — guided by local Balinese women. Day three is a cooking class where you'll learn authentic dishes with fresh local ingredients. Day five introduces traditional Balinese dance, where you'll get a feel for the rhythmic movements that are so central to the island's ceremonies. In between are two included massages (30 minutes and 60 minutes), and the afternoons are largely free for the pool, a walk, or simply resting.

The yoga is led by Eli, a Balinese teacher who's been practising for over a decade. She started with Hatha Yoga before moving into Vinyasa Flow, where postures are linked through the breath. She's trained with both Balinese and Indian gurus and likes to teach what she calls “inner yoga” — a practice focused on body-mind connection. Classes happen outdoors on the deck or in the yoga shala, with jungle views around you. They're described as suitable for beginners, intermediate, and advanced practitioners alike, and the schedule also mentions yin and restorative yoga within the weekly flow.

Meals are a highlight. Breakfast brings fresh tropical fruit, a salad bar, smoothies, and jamu, the traditional Indonesian medicinal drink, plus coconut straight from the trees. Lunch and dinner are buffet-style with seasonal soups, red rice, noodles, and plenty of vegetables, catering to both vegan and non-vegetarian diets. Everything is served in the open-air restaurant overlooking the garden. The week is designed to give you space to relax while also learning something real about Balinese culture — a balance that's hard to find in busier parts of the island.
